Scouting’s National Honor Society

 

For more than a century, the Order of the Arrow has recognized Scouts and Scouters who best live out the Scout Oath and Law. Known as Arrowmen, members promote camping traditions, leadership, cheerful service, and the spirit of Scouting throughout their communities.

Mission
To fulfill its purpose as an integral part of Scouting America through positive youth leadership guided by capable adults.

Purpose
The OA:
• Honors those who exemplify the Scout Oath and Law in daily life.
• Promotes camping, outdoor adventure, and environmental stewardship.
• Develops leaders who serve Scouting and their communities.
• Inspires a lifetime of cheerful service to others.

Membership & Induction
Candidates are elected by their peers after meeting rank and camping requirements and receiving unit leader approval. The Ordeal marks the first step in OA membership, followed by Brotherhood for active members who deepen their commitment. Exceptional service may be recognized with the Vigil Honor, the Order’s highest distinction.

Our Lodge
The Cape Fear Council’s OA lodge helps strengthen local Scouting through youth leadership, service projects, and camp promotion.
