Scouting Offers Adventures for a Lifetime
Scouting is an adventure like no other and young people across southeastern North Carolina are invited to join the fun! Through outdoor exploration, leadership opportunities, and service to others, Scouting builds character and confidence that lasts a lifetime.
Who Can Become a Scout?
Scouting welcomes all young people ages 5 through 20 to participate in exciting, age-appropriate programs designed to help them grow, lead, and thrive.
- Cub Scouts (ages 5–10): The adventure begins here! Cub Scouts enjoy hands-on learning, outdoor fun, and discovery with their families as they explore the world around them.
- Scouts BSA (ages 10–18): The signature Scouting program focuses on leadership, citizenship, and personal growth. Scouts work toward earning the prestigious Eagle Scout rank through camping, community service, and skill-building experiences.
- Venturing (ages 14–20): This high-adventure program challenges older youth with opportunities in leadership, outdoor adventure, and teamwork all while having fun and making lifelong friends.
What Do Scouts Do?
Scouting is fun with a purpose! Every month, Scouts participate in outdoor activities, community service projects, and skill-building experiences that teach responsibility, teamwork, and leadership. From camping and kayaking to earning merit badges and attending summer camp, every adventure helps Scouts grow stronger physically, mentally, and morally.
Scouts in the Cape Fear Council also have opportunities to participate in regional and national events, expanding their horizons far beyond their local troop or pack.
How Do I Get Started?
Joining is easy! Scouting programs are offered through packs (Cub Scouts), troops (Scouts BSA), and crews (Venturing) in communities across Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Hoke, New Hanover, Pender, Robeson, and Scotland counties.
